It was a request from the ambassador

It was not a mess, a lack of attention. It was a real and obvious plot to free and essentially escape one of the worst criminals of the last decades. The Criminal Court will now see how to proceed against Italy

Apparently there was a real agreement between Italy and Libya to save the killer Almasri from prison, that is, the head of the Libyan police who for years has been massacring refugees in the concentration camps near Tripoli . Almasri is accused of murder, torture, extortion, rape, even the rape of a child. The Court of The Hague has issued an arrest warrant against him.

Official documents naively delivered by the Italian government itself to the International Criminal Court in The Hague speak of this agreement between Italy and Libya to save Almasri from arrest . According to the Italian government – which is changing its version for the fourth or fifth time – the reason for the release of Almasri (who had been captured two days earlier by the Digos in Turin) was an explicit request from the Libyan ambassador, who wrote to Minister Tajani to ask him to hand over Almasri because there was a Libyan arrest warrant against him and therefore Libya 's desire to try him in his homeland. On what basis was this request? " In the name - it is written in the ambassador's letter to Tajani - of common objectives". And what would these objectives be? Evidently the reference is to the action of the Libyan militias who torture and exterminate refugees, preventing them from leaving for Italy. Thus, with this letter from the Libyans, a third minister is involved in the affair: the Foreign Minister Tajani after Piantedosi, Nordio, President Meloni herself and the Undersecretary Mantovano.

What a mess. Also because the Hague tribunal will not take long to dismantle the Italian thesis. These are the dates. The Libyan arrest warrant is issued on November 12, 2024. It is not carried out for months. Almasri continues to circulate freely and in full view. No one bothers him. In Italy he is arrested on a warrant from The Hague on January 18. The ambassador's letter to Tajani is dated January 20. That day Nordio warns journalists that he is examining the papers to decide whether to give the green light to the arrest. This is not true. Nordio lets the 48-hour deadline to confirm the arrest expire, and the judges are forced to release Almasri without the minister's visa. When the judges revoke the arrest, the Presidency of the Council has sent a Falcon to Turin several hours before to pick up the killer Almasri. So it was already foreseeing his release. Which Almasri is immediately expelled and taken back to Libya on the Falcon of the secret services. Welcomed triumphantly. After 48 hours the Libyan arrest warrant is withdrawn. Italy could not grant extradition because there is torture in Libya . Expulsion was the only possible way to free the killer.

Conclusion? It was not a mess, a lack of attention. It was a real and obvious plot to free and essentially escape one of the worst criminals of the last decades. The Criminal Court will now see how to proceed against Italy . In political terms here it is funny to think that the press is mobilized against Daniela Santanché who – perhaps – misused the redundancy fund, and instead does not ask for the immediate removal of the ministers involved, knowingly, in such a serious episode of escape from prison. We are faced, certainly, with the greatest political scandal of the Second Republic. In general indifference.
